Editorial recommendation (Holster): liquids for refillable pod kits
Vapevergleich is an offering of the Holster brand. Holster does not make devices, but liquids. For refillable pod kits, we therefore name Holster liquids as the editorial recommendation:
- Nicotine type: nicotine salt
- Nicotine strengths: 5, 10 and 20 mg/ml
- Fill volume: 10 ml per bottle
Whether a liquid suits a device depends on the resistance of the pod and the power. The information on this is given for each device under “Compatible pods” and “Power”.
How the comparison works.
Choose device type
Disposable vape, device for prefilled pods or refillable pod kit.
Check the information
Battery, capacity, power and compatible pods are shown exactly as the manufacturer states them. If information is missing, it says “not specified”.
Place side by side
Up to four devices can be compared directly. Differences are highlighted; there is no rating.
Frequently asked questions.
What is the difference between a disposable vape and a pod system?
A disposable vape is filled at the factory and disposed of as waste electrical equipment after use. With a pod system, the device with the battery is kept and only the pod is replaced or refilled. More on this in the guide “Disposable or reusable”.
What do “prefilled” and “refillable” mean?
Prefilled pods come with liquid and are replaced after use. Refillable pods are empty and are filled with a liquid of your own choice. Some devices accept both types.
Do pods from different brands fit in one device?
Only if the manufacturer says so. For each device, “Compatible pods” shows which pods fit according to the manufacturer. podsvergleich.com compares the pods themselves in detail.
How much nicotine may a liquid contain?
Fixed limits apply to nicotine-containing liquids in the EU: at most 20 mg of nicotine per millilitre, at most 2 ml in disposable vapes, cartridges and tanks and at most 10 ml in refill containers. More on this at nikotinvergleich.com.
Why are Holster liquids recommended?
Vapevergleich is an offering of the Holster brand. Holster makes liquids, not devices. We therefore label the liquids as “Editorial recommendation (Holster)”. The devices appear alphabetically, without rating.

What is a pod system?
A pod system is a compact e-cigarette consisting of a battery section and a pod that is plugged on. The pod contains the atomiser and the liquid, either filled at the factory or for filling yourself. When it is empty or used up, only the pod is replaced; the battery section stays. Which pods fit is determined by the manufacturer of the device.
Which pod systems are there?
There are basically two types: devices for prefilled pods, in which liquid and atomiser are in the pod from the factory, and refillable pod kits, whose empty pods are filled by the user. In addition, pod systems differ in draw type, mouth-to-lung or restricted direct-to-lung, in activation by button or automatic draw activation, and in battery power.
What is a vape pod system with automatic draw activation?
With automatic draw activation, the device starts the atomiser as soon as you draw on the mouthpiece. A sensor detects the airflow; a button is not needed. Many disposable vapes and pod systems work this way. Some devices also have a button. Which activation a device has is stated in the manufacturer information and in this comparison.
What are the differences between MTL and RDL pods?
MTL stands for mouth to lung: the vapour is first drawn into the mouth, and the draw resistance is tight, similar to a cigarette. RDL stands for restricted direct lung: the draw is looser and goes more directly into the lungs. MTL pods usually have a higher resistance in ohms, RDL pods a lower one.
How long does a pod system last?
The battery section of a pod system is intended for longer use; its service life depends on charging cycles and care. Pods and atomisers, by contrast, are wear parts: prefilled pods are replaced when they are empty, refillable pods when the atomiser is worn out. Only the manufacturers provide specific information on service life.
How does a disposable e-cigarette work?
When you draw on the mouthpiece, a sensor detects the airflow and switches on the battery. This heats a heating coil in the atomiser, which vaporises the liquid from soaked cotton. The vapour is inhaled. Battery, atomiser and liquid are permanently installed, which is why the device is disposed of as waste electrical equipment after use.
