Structure

A pod system consists of two parts: the base device with battery and electronics and the pod, a small tank with a built-in atomiser. The pod is plugged on and supplied with power via contacts. Many devices activate automatically when you draw (automatic draw activation), others have a button.

Resistance and power

The atomiser in the pod has an electrical resistance, stated in ohms (Ω). In the database, the values range from 0.4 to 1.2 Ω. Devices with adjustable power state a range in watts, such as 5–30 W. Which resistance suits which power is stated by the manufacturer. We adopt this information without rating it.

Compatibility

Pods are usually built for only one device series. Some manufacturers explicitly name further compatible devices, such as pods from other brands for the ELFA series. In the comparison, each device shows which pods the manufacturer names. If the information is missing, it says “not specified”.

Battery and charging

Battery capacity is stated in milliampere hours (mAh). In the database, the values are between 400 and 1,700 mAh. Almost all devices charge via USB-C. How long a charge lasts depends on power and use. Manufacturers rarely give reliable values for this, so we do not list a running time.

Warning

Nicotine-containing liquids and pods carry the mandatory warning “This product contains nicotine which is a highly addictive substance.” They may only be supplied to persons aged 18 and over.
